Employee training is something that a lot of painting contractors struggle with. A few important tips that I would give you is to keep it short and relevant to them. There is always a lot of useful information that you want to pass along, whether it’s skill related, safety related or leadership related. It’s good to pass along information, but sometimes it’s more important to involve the employee in the process.
If you are doing painter training and you’re more conversational, asking a lot of questions, getting feedback from multiple painting crew leaders that are all together, you are really building the best practices for your training program. You are allowing the people on your team to provide their valuable input, help solve problems and to think. When you do this the employee training takes care of itself and people really tend to want to respond and take training seriously.
