One of the biggest mistakes that many painting contractors make is trying to place a person with a specific skillset into a position that isn’t a great fit for their skills. So I have an excellent painter who is a great crew leader but I try to make him into a sales person. Or maybe I have a salesperson who is excellent at their position but I want to make him a field supervisor and have him check on jobs. The key thing is to hire attitude and trained skills. If you realize that a person has a certain skillset you have to build the job around those skills, not try to put them in a position that you need to fill.
