The painting crew leader is really a manager. What’s important to remember about your crew leaders is not only do they need to have the skillset to actually produce the work, not only do they need to have a great attitude and a great mindset, but they have to be managers. They have to be managers of the painting job, the customer and the team of painters. So your job in developing a painting crew leader is to develop them as managers. You want to focus your crew leader training on getting he/she to be better at managing these three critical elements: the job site, the customer and the team of painters.
